Planes from Chicago would stop in Iowa City during their regular Chicago to San Francisco routes. Most of these Iowa City stops were during the nighttime hours.

John Wilson’s Sporting Goods store, across the street, later moved to the 400 block of East College, then to Eastdale Mall and later to the Sycamore Mall.
