1890 Letter from Rev. Crozier to Rev. Barrett

Letter written by Rev. John Crozier to Rev. Edward Barrett in 1890. In it, Rev. Crozier talks about Rev. Michael Hummer at length, including information about his parents, his education, and his early days as a reverend. Crozier states that Hummer’s mother was Martha Evans, a survivor of a massacre in Abb’s Valley, Virginia, in July of 1786.

The letter was written in Tolono, Illinois. The envelope has a postmark from Tolono, Ill., dated Sep 27. The return address is Box 182, Tolono, Illinois. The envelope is postal stationery, imprinted with a two-cent stamp featuring Benjamin Franklin.
