1976, 1982: Mayor Mary Neuhauser
Mary Neuhauser was mayor of Iowa City from 1976 to 1977 and 1982 to 1983, serving two terms. She was a City Council member for 9 years in total (1974-1983). According to an April 28, 1998, article in the Daily Iowan, Neuhauser served as an Iowa State Senator for 12 years, the Iowa school system at the forefront of her agenda.
